URGENT NOTICE
6-16-2023
Recently we have had five rabies cases in our area.
Texas State Law requires pet owners to have their dogs and cats vaccinated against rabies by 4 months of age. The veterinarian will issue a completed rabies vaccination certificate for each vaccinated animal. This certificate is an acceptable proof of vaccination. A rabies tag does not serve as proof of vaccination.
It is very important that everyone, especially children, knows how to prevent rabies.
PREVENTION OF RABIES: By law, you must have a veterinarian vaccinate your dogs and cats against rabies. Keeping your pets vaccinated protects you and them.
Restrain your pets; do no allow them to roam.
Do not approach strange dogs or cats. Do not touch sick or injured animals.
We for many years had a Vet come to help our community fight against rabies and make it easier on pet owners in our town to have their pets vaccinated, but our veterinarian stopped coming to Rising Star due to low turnout.
Please community make sure your dogs and cats, get their rabies vaccine every year.
For the dogs running loose, owners please protect them and have a safe place for them to live and make sure they are vaccinated every year.
